weekend update

Hola!  Happy February, and happy weekend!  In sticking with one of my non-New-Years-Resolution-challenges, here's a little snippet of my life in the last two weeks!  Side note: when I read these posts back to myself after I'm done, I sometimes read it in a different accent.  I guess I can't take myself that seriously for too long.  I'm laughing just thinking about it.  Did I lose you there? Probably.  Here's some pretty pictures!

So O and I went to Silverlake to see if there were any spots to capture.  Below is the wall art on the Casbah Cafe which has been a staple of the Sunset Junction for a long time.  O and I were taking some photos in front of the art, and an old woman walked passed us and muttered under her breath, "Oh, that's nice.  Taking photos before it's all gone."  Initially we thought she was having a bit of a reflective (and quite dark) moment, about documenting our lives while we're still young, until we saw the sign on the front door of the cafe stating that it would be closing.  Sad moment for a beautiful small business cherished by the people of Silverlake.

O told me to channel my inner Joe Pesci, and this photo happened.  I can't look at it without laughing.  Any time you ever think I'm taking myself too seriously, please refer back to this photo.

OK so I've been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years now.  I finally caved and bought myself a Yamaha and named her Marci.  In keeping with the general theme of my life, I broke a string the first night I got her, but the next day I fixed it and I've been teaching myself little by little almost every day.  I now know how to very slowly play Mary Had A Little Lamb, and I have mastered the E chord.  I'll be going on tour this spring if you want to buy tickets.

And of course, it wouldn't be right if a day passed and I didn't take a photo of the LA sunset.  These were both taken with my iPhone, but I couldn't resist.  I can feel all of the eye rolls, and you can all go kiss my booty cause I WILL NEVER STOP.

As always, go out and have a really fuckin good day.  Valentine's Day is coming up.  If you're one of those people (like me) who is so single it hurts, make plans with yourself that day.  Make Valentine's Day the new treat yourself day.  Or, pro tip: round up your single girlfriends and go to Hooters.  I know from experience that if you go to Hooters with a group full of only women, you get an appetizer for free.  BOOM.  Thank me later.
