Hey you! Welcome back to The Jones, where everything's made up and the points don't matter! We are now almost halfway through March, and things have been going quite swimmingly for me over here. I don't know what's gotten into me, but my motivation and organization has been on another level this month. In the last two weeks, I've deep cleaned the apartment, I've managed to actually get my ass out of bed on days off, I've been to yoga almost every single day, and I've been focusing deeply on taking the appropriate first steps for my career. I have been probably more productive these last two weeks than I have been in years. I mean, I went out and bought a planner and have started color coding my responsibilities. How type A of me? I meant what I said in my first blog post of the year: I really believe 2016 is going to be the year that separates my past from my future. I can feel a shift in me that I'm hoping is permanent. I am going forth into the unknown world of Hollywood without fear, but with my eyes, arms and heart open, and I cannot wait to see what comes of it!
I've also been keeping Sonya (my camera) in the passenger seat of my car, because now that I'm always out of the house, you never know when you're going to see something beautiful that you want to capture. In photo form, here are the last two weeks of my life!
These next three pictures were taken on my iPhone. I was on my way home from work, and the sunset was just unreal. I had to pull over and snap a few photos. I couldn't fully capture the intensity of it with my phone, which is one of the reasons I decided to relocate my camera to my car, so that this wouldn't happen again. I still think the sunsets here are lovely enough for even an iPhone to shoot, though.
I had an audition about a week ago. The role was a teenaged girl in high school. I was the oldest person in the waiting room by a margin of at least 4 years. It psyched me out I guess, because the audition was below average. Not my worst, but completely unmemorable. The studio was near one of my favorite cafes in LA, so I decided to treat myself to some yummies. When I got there, these flowers were in full bloom and I couldn't help myself. I was so happy I decided to keep Sonya in my car, because these wouldn't have come out the way I wanted if I had just used my phone.
The next photo makes me so sad. I was on my way to work, and I was running really early. The sun was going down and I shit you not it may have been the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen. I just kept saying things like "oh my God," and "holy shit," out loud to myself. I knew the perfect overlook to pull over at to capture it, but I had to get there quickly, because obviously the sunset wouldn't have lasted all night. It's like the person in front of me knew, however. They wouldn't drive one stinking mile per hour over the speed limit, so by the time I got to my spot, the sunset was almost over. Still a gorgeous sight, but compared to what it had looked like just ten minutes prior, such a disappointment. I took a photo anyway, just because I had gone out of my way for it, but UGH I was so frustrated.
This is another one of those photos that happened while I was driving and I just couldn't miss the opportunity. I was on my way to a yoga class, and for whatever reason, the effect that the sunset had made the clouds look like there was actually light radiating out of them. It was stunning. So I lowered my sun roof, and the first red light I came to, I snapped this. All of these iPhone images are amateur at best, but there is more attachment to them, because there was such an urgency to capture this exact moment, that I don't even really mind that the quality isn't as heightened as it would be if I took this with Sonya.
Tuesday of this week, I got called off of work for the third day in a row. I was frustrated, because there was nothing else I could clean in the apartment, and I needed to make money. I weighed my options for what I should do with my day, and I decided to go to a cafe and do some work. It was gorgeous out, so for the first time since moving to Sherman Oaks, I left my car outside the apartment, and took a walk. I took Sonya with me, so where I saw something that caught my eye, I had her to help me tell that story.
These last two photos are again captured on my iPhone while sitting in traffic. I just haven't gotten over the beauty of Southern California yet, so I see things every single day that still stun me. Until I see the day when I'm unimpressed by the natural beauty of this state, I'll keep posting shitty quality iPhone pictures of the sky. Deal.
Well, that's it for my mid-March update! Next week, O, her friend Lauren, and I are headed to Joshua Tree for what I'm calling Olena's-Belated-Girls-Oasis-Getaway-25th-Birthday-Retreat! We are all so excited, and I'm obviously taking Sonya with me, and preparing myself to fill up my memory card with stunning photos! So there's something to look forward to, if you're someone who looks forward to when I post something? OK well thanks for stopping by, once again. You're the tits! Happy Friday!
